The GEM 200 product range has wireless remote switching module that enables remote switching of appliances and equipment. The meter is aimed at improving energy efficiency and can be configured as either a credit, or prepaid meter. Verification of your utility bill is therefore possible on a half hourly basis. Communications is usually initiated from the meter using GPRS or SMS functionality, enabling a supplier or utility to gather information from all deployed meters in near real-time.
The meter also listens to on-demand requests and can be instructed switch off loads or the complete installation in emergency load management situations. The GEM 200 also supports the NRS049:2008 smart meter specification functionality, which includes amongst others TOU (Time of Use) tariffs, load limiting, load control, staggered come-back loads (to management the maximum demand), remote disconnect and reconnect and remote metering and tamper detection. All updates are quick and easy as the GSM technology allows for remote configuration of the meter on demand and removes the need for expensive site visits.
