  • Is Eastman txib a good Plastisol additive?
  • Eastman TXIB formulation additive provides low viscosity characteristics in plastisols with good viscosity stability over time. 30 max. 0.05 max. aProperties are reported for information only. Eastman makes no representation that the material in any particular shipment will conform exactly to the values given.
  • What is Eastman txib?
  • Eastman TXIBâ„¢ formulation additive has efficiency generally equal to DOP, which makes substitution in a vinyl formulation very easy. It imparts a dry surface to the vinyl, excellent resistance to staining, and physical properties equivalent to DOP. TXIB is also used in inks, coatings, urethane elastomers, and nail polish lacquers.
  • Is txib a plastisol?
  • In flexible vinyl, TXIB is similar in plasticizing efficiency to many general-purpose plasticizers, including Eastman 168TM non-phthalate plasticizer (DOTP) and DINP. Table 2 compares the performance of plastisols with blends of TXIB and Eastman 168 to a plastisol with only Eastman 168.
  • Is txib compatible with PVC plastisol?
  • TXIB is completely compatible with PVC in all proportions and is usually blended with general-purpose plasticizers such as DOP or DOTP. The unique low viscosity makes this material particularly suitable for PVC plastisols and often allows adding additional fillers to the plastisol, resulting in a cost savings.
  • Does txib reduce Plastisol viscosity?
  • TXIB can significantly lower the viscosity of the plastisol when substituted for a portion of the primary plasticizer. Thus the addition of filler along with the correct amount of TXIB can reduce the overall formulation cost while holding the viscosity to the desired level.
  • Why should I add txib to Plastisol?
  • Adding TXIB to plastisol formulations lowers overall plastisol viscosity and improves viscosity stability over time. The lower viscosity improves handling characteristics, making pumping and pouring of the plastisol easier. Additionally, the lower viscosity can allow for improved flow into small mold cavities.
