  • When should a manufacturer draw up a declaration of performance?
  • The manufacturer shall draw up a Declaration of Performance when a product covered by a harmonised standard (hEN) or a European Technical Assessment (ETA) is placed on the market. By drawing up this DoP, the manufacturer assumes the responsibility for the conformity of the construction product with the declared performance.
  • Why do you need a declaration of performance?
  • Together with the Declaration of Performance this will also help your customers and final users to check the performance of the product and compare it with other products under the same technical approach.
  • What is a DOP & how does it work?
  • The DoP gives the manufacturer the opportunity to deliver the information about the essential characteristics of his product he wants to deliver to the market. The manufacturer shall draw up a Declaration of Performance when a product covered by a harmonised standard (hEN) or a European Technical Assessment (ETA) is placed on the market.
  • How do I create a declaration of performance?
  • When developing your own format for the declaration of performance of your products, you have to follow the instructions published in the Oficial Journal of the European Union: Delegated Regulation amending Annex III of the CPRXIII. This number allows you to classify the declaration of performance (2.1.7).
  • Can a DOP be based on other national product standards?
  • No, not under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Article 4 (1) of the CPR links the obligation to make a DoP to the existence of a harmonised standard or a European Technical Assessment (ETA) issued for a given product. Therefore, a DoP under the CPR cannot be based on other national product standards.
  • Do manufacturers have to provide a declaration of performance?
  • Since then manufacturers of CE marked products have to provide a declaration of performance when placing products on the market. Distributors which make the products available on the market have to provide a copy of the respective declaration of performance and ensure the products bear the required marking.
