  • What is a declaration of performance?

Each construction product covered by a European harmonised standard or for which a European Technical Assessment has been issued needs this Declaration and has to be CE marked.
  • What does CPR mean for construction products?
  • CPR sets out the conditions for the marketing of construction products, as well as methods and criteria for assessing and expressing the performance of construction products and the conditions for the use of the CE marking in Europe in a similar way as the UKCA marking in the United Kingdom.
  • Do cables need a declaration of Performance (DoP)?
  • With effect from 1st July 2017, it has been obligatory for cables, having an intended use for permanent installation in buildings and construction works, to be accompanied by a Declaration of Performance (DoP) and to have CE marking under the CPR. This requirement relates only to the Reaction to Fire performance of the cables.
  • What is the purpose of the DOP?
  • The purpose of the DoP is to provide transparency and standardized information to consumers, contractors, building professionals, and other stakeholders so they can make informed decisions based on the performance and characteristics of construction products. It is critical to be well-prepared for this legislation.
  • What is a CPR & how does it work?
  • The CPR covers the way in which the product is placed on the market, typically by the manufacturer, and then made available in the market, typically by a manufacturer or distributor. The CPR does not say how and where a particular product should be used. Crucially it does not say what class of product should be used in any given circumstance.
