  • What is DOP testing?
  • Using a cloud of dispersed oil particulate as an aerosol, DOP testing involves releasing a high concentration of the aerosol into the airstream, upstream of the filter. Measurements will then be taken to ensure that no seepage has occurred, either through the filter itself, or through its casing.
  • Who should take the DOP testing course?
  • This course is designed for anyone involved with in-situ testing of HEPA filters using the Dispersed Oil Particle (DOP) method. It is also useful for facility managers, quality personnel, or anyone who is involved in witnessing or signing off DOP testing undertaken by third party contractors.
  • What oil should be used for a DOP test?
  • Leaks through the filter seals may be resolved by careful adjustment of the clamping bolts by suitably trained staff. Dioctyl Phthalate used to be used for the DOP test but is no longer recommended due to its toxicity. In the UK it has been generally been replaced with Ondina X 420 oil manufactured by Shell UK Oil Products Limited.
  • Does your insurance policy require a DOP test?
  • With many company insurance policies now stating that all LEV (with HEPA lters) require validation of the integrity of the HEPA, Fumex Ltd can provide a cost-e ective DOP Test to ensure compliance to all your policy regulations.
