Where did Ciba-Geigy make significant cuts?
Most of the cuts at Ciba-Geigy came from two places: the seeds division headquarters moved to Minneapolis, resulting in a loss of 41 jobs in Greensboro. Additionally, Novartis hired an outside contractor, IBM, to handle many computer functions previously handled by Ciba-Geigy employees in Greensboro.
Will Guilford County see a difference between Ciba-Geigy and Novartis?
Although the faces have changed, Ciba-Geigy, one of Greensboro's largest and most civic-minded employers, is now two companies: Novartis and Ciba Specialty Chemicals. However, executives assure that Guilford County won't see much of a difference as far as community involvement is concerned.
Where is Ciba Specialty Chemicals located now?
Ciba Specialty Chemicals is still located at Novartis' campus on Swing Road for the moment. However, it is constructing its own campus at the Piedmont Centre business park in north High Point.
