Bonding Agent® 51066 N by Lanxess is a high-performance, phthalate- and solvent-free one-component bonding agent used to enhance adhesion. It is alkyl-sulphonic acid ester of phenols and poly-isocyanurate. It exhibits moderate viscosity and therefore is easy to handle during processing. This additive is a moisture sensitive reactive system.
- Can Lanxess bonding agents be used with PVC plastisol coatings?
- LANXESS bonding agents are designed to be used with PVC plastisol coatings applied to technical textiles made of synthetic fibers, such as polyester or polyamide.
- How are Lanxess bonding agents applied?
- LANXESS bonding agents are typically mixed with PVC plastisol and applied only in the first (bond) layer at room or close to room temperature by doctor blade coating or similar processes.
- Can Plastisol be cured without a bonding agent?
- After thermal pre-gelation a further (top) plastisol layer without a bonding agent is typically applied on top of the non-fully cured bond layer, followed by the final gelation in an oven. LANXESS bonding agents are typically NOT compatible with standard extrusion processes. IS IT POSSIBLE TO IMPROVE A TOO SHORT PLASTISOL POT LIFE?
- What are bonding agents?
- Bonding agents are used to improve bond strength / adhesion of a material to a substrate when its native adhesion is too low. They can be stand-alone (e. g. adhesive, glue or a primer) or be of an additive type as in case of LANXESS bonding agents which are designed to be applied as part of a liquid PVC plastisol.
- Why should you use liquid isocyanate-reactive bonding agents in PVC plastisol?
- Added to PVC plastisol in the last mixing step shortly before processing, our liquid isocyanate-reactive Bonding Agentssignificantly improve adhesion of the PVC coatings to polyester- and polyamide-based fabrics, thus enabling the production of a durable coated textile in the first place.
