About Dioctyl Phthalate. Dioctyl Phthalate (a.k.a. DOP, DEHP, Diethylhexyl Phthalate) is a non-volatile colorless liquid, insoluble in water, and with a mild odor. Generally, it is obtained from the butyraldehyde dimerization, and corresponds to the phthalate ester of 2-ethylhexanol.
