- Abiotic methods can often rapidly and efficiently reduce the concentration of contaminants, e.g., advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) can significantly reduce the levels of plastic additives in a short period of time (Yang et al., 2020). However, these methods are costly and may not be favorable for large-scale applications (Bilal et al., 2019).
